Olivier Award winner Sheridan Smith stars in Alan Ayckbourn's darkly comic psychological drama Woman in Mind, alongside multi award-winning comedian Romesh Ranganathan.
Directed by Michael Longhurst (Constellations, Caroline or Change, and former Artistic Director of the Donmar Warehouse) this spellbinding revival explores one woman’s fractured reality with heart and humour.
When Susan sustains a bump to the head, her world splits in two—one mundane, one imagined—and the lines begin to blur. Ayckbourn’s groundbreaking play is a hilarious and gripping exploration of identity, family, and mental escape.
A fantastic ensemble cast includes Louise Brealey, Chris Jenks, Tim McMullan, Safia Oakley-Green, Sule Rimi, Taylor Uttley, Katie Buchholz and Michael Woolfitt.

Sheridan Smith to Lead Alan Ayckbourn’s Woman in Mind at the Duke of York’s Theatre
Sheridan Smith will return to the West End this winter in a major new production of Alan Ayckbourn’s Woman in Mind. Directed by Michael Longhurst, the play opens at the Duke of York’s Theatre on 9 December 2025, running until 28 February 2026, before heading on tour.
Ayckbourn’s groundbreaking psychological comedy follows Susan, who suffers a bump to the head and suddenly finds herself living in two overlapping worlds—one ordinary, the other imagined. As reality and fantasy collide, the play offers a witty yet unsettling look at identity, family, and the need for escape.
